When I first met Janet in 2009, I was overweight, tired, depressed and unhealthy. I felt horrible about myself. I had a hard time getting motivated to do anything and lacked self-confidence. I had spent the previous 13 years putting my family’s/kid’s needs before my own, so I always found the time to do everything but exercise. Like all of us, I had lots of stress in my life…4 kids (1 with special needs, a set of multiples), ill parents, and a husband with a very demanding job… Since I had a lot of weight to lose, I signed up for her Fit Study class.

That class was the best thing I have ever done for myself. At times, we all need someone who can help us help ourselves, and Janet was and still is that person for me. She is passionate about fitness and it shows through in her energy and enthusiasm. Workouts are never easy, but always fun, challenging and very rewarding. Her easy-going, friendly personality creates a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. I’m never uncomfortable when I walk into the gym each day…smiling faces greet me every time!

I am so much happier now than I was before I started that program. I’m 56 pounds (and counting!) lighter, countless inches thinner and more self-confident than I have ever been. I am off almost all of my medications I was on, I sleep better, and have more energy and mental clarity than I’ve had in a long time. I’m a better wife, mother, daughter and sister. Don’t get me wrong…I still have my 4 kids, busy husband and an ill parent, but have learned one VERY important lesson…you have to take time for YOU… Unless you take care of yourself, it’s impossible to take care of others well. I’m living proof of this. We can all say that we are too busy, too tired, etc to do it, but we all need to make that time. My mother has died since I started that day in 2009, but I can honestly say that without Janet and her gentle persistence, I wouldn’t have made it through those long months of caring for mom and all that came with her passing, while still keeping my family afloat. I often say to Janet that if it weren’t for her, I’d have been committed months ago…this has been my ticket to health and well-being! I’ve gone from frumpy mommy to confident figure competitor in just over a year…with some breaks in between because of family issues, but I did it…that says more to me than anything.

I joined Bodyphit a little under a month ago. When I walked in the door and met Janet I knew her no nonsense approach to fitness was right for me. I started the very next day with the fitness study program three days a week with several other crazy gals and guys. The weight started falling off, so much so that I wanted more! Believe it or not I was having a great time so I signed up for private sessions with Janet and she quickly figured out my broken bent body (two bad knees). She developed a weight lifting/stretching program that has me walking straighter and 17 pounds lighter in less than a month. Needless to say I am a huge fan and want more!

I recently joined a group training and exercise class that meets one hour three times a week and is lead by personal trainer, Janet Bannowsky. What can I say...she is great! We get the best workout ever! We are always challenged, but not going over or above what your body can/can't do. Janet and her staff support and encourage us, all while having fun. They are great! Unlike some of the name brand big clubs the Rancho Cucamonga facility is clean and bright. The equipment is top of the line. Despite being a group class Janet delivers results on a personal and individualized level. I am your typical person who loves the outdoors. Swimming, hiking, biking, walking and skiing were my favorite type of exercises, only they did not help enough to keep my weight down and my aging body slim and trim. Gyms were not for me, the machines were too intimidating, how does one even use these giant things? So I stayed a way from them. Finding the gyms advertising for a free health study with exercise and a personal trainer was a surprise and the greatest blessing that came my way this summer. Janet makes exercise fun. The machines have become my friends because she teaches me to use them properly. Finding other people with the same goals in the small study group made the class interesting and taking my friends along gives us time together we otherwise would not have in our busy schedules. I have participated now for 3 months and have lost 15 lbs and about 3”. I feel that I have more energy, that I am more in control of my life. I am sleeping better and have started to eliminate medication to help me sleep. I am looking forward to go to the gym like a kid who will go to the candy store. It has just been so much fun.

Working with Janet Bannowsky is by far the best thing I have ever done for my health and my life.

Following my next to last serious neck cancer surgery and radiation treatments in 1995 I began 12 months of physical therapy, which did little to correct my health problems. I began work with Janet Bannowsky instead to lose weight, improve my fitness and strength.

Following Janet’s initial assessment of my state of health, Janet developed an eating plan and exercise plan that I am still following to this day.

In 10 months I lost 40 lbs. and my body fat percentage dropped from a high of 44% to a more acceptable 25%. Years later, Janet has helped me continue to improve.

My last cancer and life threatening experience was in 2009. I developed 17 non-hodgkins lymphoma’s in my lungs. Followed by 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy treatment, my doctors were surprised to find how well I tolerated the treatment and how quickly I had recovered. Today I am cancer free and I owe all of this to Janet’s expertise and encouragement.

The science of physical training has moved a long way in the past 10 years and Janet has been practicing the cutting edge, effective strategies to help her clients. More that this, she practices the art of personal training with energy, enthusiasm and great humor.
